E:Ne Staff Pick 2023

By Riely

Tatenokawa’s Foofighters Hansho Silver is no Pretender. It’s a great tasting sake with a fun story behind it. Made in collaboration with the famous rock group, the Foo Fighters discography serves as a backtrack to the brewing of this sake, and the inspiration shows in the assertiveness and expressiveness of it’s flavour. The Hansho Silver is a well-polished Junmai Daiginjo with refreshing taste and a satisfyingly full body. This sake is both absolutely delicious and a fun story to tell when you give it as a gift or bring it to share at a party!

David's pick

Kodama Chogetsu, Known as "Clear Moon" is my pick. This Sake is made in Akita area in Japan with Akita Kimoto method which gvies the sake depth and acidity. The regional natural cold temperatures of Akita lead to a long fermentation and that gives their sake elegant and complex aromatics.

It has aromas of tropical fruits, pineapple and also flowers. SMV is +1 which is not sweet or dry, Well balanced to pair with seafood or meat.

Tammy's Pick

My pick is the Niida Shizenshu Junmai Ginjo. Its brewed using tradational kimoto method and made with fertilizer and pesticide-free Miyamanishiki and Gohyakumangoku rice. This sake is medium bodied with balanced umami and acidity. Personally I love the notes of melon, and it's gentle + clean. It's a very approachable sake, great for people who love white wine.
